Quenya CGC NTD
Quenya is an Australian Kelpie/Labrador/Chow Chow mix that was born in January of 2011. She was rescued as a stray at 6 months of age, adopted by her first owner and then given to me when her original owner couldn't keep her any longer. Quenya's talents include tricks and hiking. She's my only dog that I frequently handle off-leash (in areas where that is permitted, of course) and is extremely special. She is my heart dog, dearest friend, and holds a place in my heart no other dog could ever fill. You'll see a lot of her on this blog. She's brilliant, energetic, pretty much the stereotypical girl dog (in the GOOD way, dog people will know what I mean!) and a social butterfly.
Victoria
2009-2016
Victoria is a Pug born in 2009. The story of how she became mine is a long one, but I've known her since she was six months old. She most likely came from a BYB, and is a little on the small side at 15lbs. I used to do "backyard agility" with Victoria, and actually had plans to try competition at some point simply because she loved it so much, but at the end of 2014 she was hit by a car and sustained permanent spinal nerve damage--she will walk with a limp for the rest of her life. She can and does enjoy hikes, visits to the river and going to the dog park! She's a doll and much beloved by all she meets.2009-2016
Victoria passed away due to sudden onset heart failure in 2016
I keep the dogs on a corn, wheat and soy free kibble. Quenya has allergies that flare up if she's on a consistent diet that includes corn and wheat. Her allergies will also flare up at random times--if you ever notice that her back legs seem somewhat hairless in a photo, an allergy flare-up is to blame! As I've learned what can cause various kinds of flare-ups I've been able to nip them in the bud much more effectively.
We hike, run about town and generally find adventures to go on! Quenya is pursuing Trick Dog titles, and I'm still in the process of testing out Skipper's desires to figure out what he wants. Barn Hunt is definitely on the list and we will be pursuing it, but I'd love to pursue Disc, Flyball or Dock Jumping.
Our training is based in Positive Reinforcement. No alpha roll-overs, choke chains or prong collars here! The pupcrew love learning and all the attention and treats they receive during our sessions.
